Fiber Optics connector HEM12 – our new high density connectivity solution for harsh environments

The HEM12 - Harsh Environment M12 can support up to 24 Singlemode or Multimode fibers. It is based on the M12 connector type and fulfills the IEC 61754 regulation. The connector design allows using outdoor, indoor and universal cables.

Data traffic is increasing exponentially. That growth requests more fibers to overcome this demand. Naturally, the need of a harsh environment connector with a small footprint and high amount of fibers becomes essential.

That is why we developed a new high-density connector based on the widely used M12 interface for outdoor applications and of course fulfilling the IEC 61754 regulation. HEM12 can support up to 24 fibers. It perfectly combines long term reliability, easy installation and connections with a small size footprint. HEM12 is suitable for a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and has a high resistance against dust, water, vibration, oil and rodents.

With only one high quality MTP Ferrule, this can be the first choice for high-density connectivity solutions in harsh environments. HEM12 also allows replacing the metal pins and provides stability by a male to female screw locking system. That results in a great price and size per channel ratioand is more cost effective per fiber than connector types using ceramic ferrules. Due to its metal shell, the HEM12 offers a great environmental resistance. That might be of special interest for industrial applications, mobile applications (Fiber to the Antenna) and installation in trains (RollingStock).
