Realizing that our customers needed system components, we began to broaden our portfolio and to cooperate with specialists such as FO-Systems, IOtech, Prinz Fiber Optics, FiberTech, RoMack j-fiber Group and Richard Losch Inc. We integrated an enormous spectrum of expertise and know-how for heterogeneous applications in the most diverse markets into the Business Unit Fiber Optics of the LEONI Group. As a specialist we now manage numerous technologies, which is why we can stick to our commitment to provide system solutions to our customers.

2011
LEONI takes over j-fiber in Jena
Glass fiber manufacturer is being integrated into the Business Unit Fiber Optics
Nuremberg, February 01, 2012 – LEONI, the leading provider of cables and cable systems to the automotive sector and other industries, has acquired 100 percent of the shares of the j-fiber GmbH in Jena and finalized its activities in this field at the end of 2011. In 2007, LEONI acquired within the framework of its growth strategy in technologically demanding niche markets 51 percent of the shares of j-fiber and has since vertically integrated this unit.
j-fiber is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of high-quality glass fibers, preforms and quartz glass materials for demanding telecommunication & data communication applications and special industrial fields. In these fields of business j-fiber is a good supplement to the LEONI Group.

Since 2011, FiberTech RoMack Inc. is operating under the business name of LEONI Fiber Optics Inc.
LEONI Fiber Optics celebrates its 10th anniversary. Our organizations’ story is comprised of many stories: different companies such as FO Systems, Prinz Optics, IOtech, FiberTech, RoMack, j-fiber and LEONI Roth are part of the success story of our LEONI Fiber Optics group.
This event gives us the opportunity to thank all people who have helped us to become as successful as we are today. We would like to say all our customers, suppliers, long-standing research partners and - of course all our employees - THANK YOU. Without you, this success story would not have been possible. Again and again, your input is an inspiration for us to strive for further innovations and improvements.
This year, LEONI Fiber Optics launches the first multimode splitter. Based on planar integrated lightwave circuits, they are fabricated using the ion exchange process in glass. This makes them very compact, robust and long-term stable. Whether used in sensor technology or in optical power transmission potential applications are manifold.
For the next 10 years, there is a lot on our agenda, too. In 2011 there were many changes for the LEONI Fiber Optics group on a global scale. We intensified our commitment considerably not only at our production site and sales department in Williamsburg (USA), but also in Changzhou in China. This enables us to provide our customers on three continents with comprehensive support in Europe, America and Asia. Our production is located in the vicinity to your customers and your markets.

Merging of our US-based subsidiaries FiberTech USA Inc. Chandler, Arizona, and RoMack Inc. Williamsburg, Virginia, forming LEONI Fiber Optics Inc. operating under company name FiberTech RoMack Inc.
Acquisition of the fiber optics specialist RoMack Inc. Williamsburg, Virginia
Merging of our subsidiary FiberTech GmbH, Berlin, with the sole shareholder LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH. Former FiberTech GmbH is now part of LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH with headquarters in Berlin.
Preform- and Fiber-specialist J-Fiber, Jena, is integrated together with the two subsidiaries J-Plasma and Fiber Core Machinery into the Business Unit Fiber Optics of the LEONI Group
2009
Launching of the brand namesFiberConnect®, FiberTech®, FiberSwitch® and FiberSplit®. The extensive LEONI Fiber Optics product portfolio comprises now the product families FiberConnect® for Fiber optic cable solutions, FiberTech® for special fibers, medical laser probes and fiber optical sensor solutions, FiberSwitch® for optical fiber switches and FiberSplit® for planar light-guidewave products.
Merging of our subsidiary LEONI Prinz Fiber Optics GmbH in Stromberg with the sole shareholder LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH. Former LEONI Prinz Fiber Optics is now part of the LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH with headquarters in Stromberg.
LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH establishes the Scandinavian regional office in Frederikssund, Denmark

Transition of the business activities of BTO GmbH, Wildau near Berlin, previously located in Weil der Stadt, Baden-Württemberg, to the sole shareholder FiberTech GmbH, Berlin.
New LEONI Fiber Optics development and production site located in Sonneberg, Southern Thuringia established

Acquisition of FiberTech GmbH, one of the European leaders in the production of high-grade quartz/quartz multimode fibers and fiber optic cable assemblies for sensor systems and laser beam guidance applications. Simultaneous transition of the following subsidiaries and holdings of the FiberTech GmbH into the new company:
FiberTech USA Inc., specialist for laser medicine,
BTO BrandenburgTech GmbH, previously named BTO Bungert Technische Optik - specialist for fiber optical components,

LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH establishes its China regional office in Shanghai
Acquisition of the Business Unit Fiber Optical Switches in Jena and Fiber Optical Splitters of IOtech GmbH in Karlsruhe, Germany
2006
LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH establishes its French regional office in Gellainville, France, in charge of the markets in France, Italy and Spain.
2005
Acquisition of Fiber Unit from Prinz Optics GmbH by LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH and transition of this unit into LEONI Prinz Fiber Optics GmbH with headquarters in Stromberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Establishment of the LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH: Takeover of all FO- Systems GmbH shares by LEONI and merger with the Business Unit Fiber Optics at the LEONI site in Roth, to form LEONI Fiber Optics GmbH with headquarters in Neuhaus-Schierschnitz, Southern Thuringia, Germany.

LEONI becomes the majority shareholder of FO-Systems GmbH.
