Fiber
Fiber optics are used in a wide variety of very different applications. Single and multimode fibers as well as POF and PCF fibers are used mainly for data transmissions. Fiber bundles, MIR and UV-IR fibers, on the other hand, are used primarily for special applications in spectroscopy, microscopics and for laser beam transmissions. Polarisation maintaining and photonic crystal fibers are very specialised high-tech products used in telecommunications.
